Another New Wine Arrival: The Willunga Chardonnay 2016 from Down Under

This Australian Chardonnay just arrived from our wine club and it is superb.

However, let's be precise here. The Willunga Chardonnay 2016 is really a blend: 90% Chardonnay and 10% Semillon.

Aussies call it Sem-Chard. And that Semillon makes a difference compared to traditional Aussie Chards.

In fact, it gives it a touch of a California Chard with its lush blend of tropical fruits, a citrus back, and a smoothness that makes you think Sonoma.

The tasting notes say it would go great with light seafood or chicken salad dishes. We can see that. But we had it with eggplant Parmesan and it stood up brilliantly.

Be careful not to chill it too much. This is a white begging to be closer to room temperature so you get the full buffet of flavors.

Once it warms up a little, use the Time and Oak Whiskey Stick. We did and it smoothed it out even more without losing the flavors.

Willunga Chardonnay 2016 is another example of an interesting wine you can't get in the grocery store. Come join us in our wine club. Just join here.
